Cabin bag or checked bag?

  • Power banks: cabin bag only

Up to 100 Wh is fine; 100 to 160 Wh needs the airline’s approval; over 160 Wh is not allowed. The Wh rating is on the label.

    Cabin-safe power banks
  • Liquids: 100 ml each

On international flights, liquids in the cabin go in containers of 100 ml or less, all in one clear 1-litre bag.

  • Medicines with you

Keep medicines in the cabin with the prescription, especially for insulin or anything in liquid form.

  • Never: flammables

Lighter fluid, fireworks, gas canisters and strong chemicals are not allowed in any bag.

  • Never in checked bags: spare batteries

Spare lithium batteries, e-cigarettes and smart bags with fixed batteries must travel in the cabin.

  • Fragile and valuable

Keep jewellery, cash, documents and laptops in your cabin bag. Airlines limit what they pay for in checked bags.
